MomoCon announces new location and initial guests
ATLANTA, GA - Anime O-Tekku of Georgia Tech is pleased to announce the return of MomoCon, an annual anime/gaming/comics/costuming convention held in Atlanta, GA, March 16-18th, 2012 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. MomoCon is happy to announce a new venue for the 2012 event, and guests Catherine Jones, Martin Billany (Little Kuriboh), and Sketch MacQuinor.
MomoCon is happy to bring the convention to a new, larger venue to accommodate the influx of fans from all over the Southeast! The Marriott Marquis is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, connected to the Peachtree Center Mall and adjacent MARTA public transit station, and is surrounded by some of the best restaurants and shops in the metro Atlanta area!
Catherine Jones is an award winning seamstress and has been the proud owner of God Save the Queen Fashions, LLC, an Atlanta based costuming company, since 2004. She will be hosting advanced costuming workshops at MomoCon 2012. LittleKuriboh (AKA Martin Billany) is the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Abridged series. He has thus far produced over 52 episodes, a spinoff, a prequel, a Christmas special and two movies, creating a cultural phenomenon in the anime fan community. Sketch MacQuinor is an accomplished artist and has been a lead animator on the [adultswim] show Squidbillies for its entire production. MomoCon continues to encourage expansion of the Southeast fan community through its MomoCon on Tour series of events. Upcoming activities include the Cosplayers on Ice event, held at Centennial Park Ice Skating Rink in Atlanta, GA, on December 3rd and the Winter Ball, a semi-formal event, held at the Georgia Tech Ballroom on January 7th. Weekend memberships to MomoCon are available via webform for $25 through March 1st, 2012. At the door, weekend memberships will be sold for $30. Attendees Ages 16 and older admitted with valid government ID (driver's license, military, passport etc) at registration. Minors younger than 16 must have an adult be present at registration to sign-off on their registration form. An adult can sign-off all minors in their party.
