Zenkaikon to host cosplay contest and activities at Philadelphia Sakura Sunday

VALLEY FORGE, PA -- April 1, 2011 -- Zenkaikon is pleased to announce it will once again host a cosplay contest at the annual Sakura Sunday event in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. In addition to hosting the contest, Zenkaikon will be presenting fun and educational activities at its festival booth. Sakura Sunday is the centerpiece event of the six-week-long Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival, hosted by the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP). It will take place on April 10, 2011 from 10:30am to 4:00pm.

About the 2011 Sakura Sunday Cosplay Contest:

Zenkaikon invites attendees to dress as their favorite anime, manga, or video game characters to participate in the 2011 Sakura Sunday Cosplay Contest. The contest is open to all ages and skill levels. Sign ups and judging will take place at the Zenkaikon booth from 10:30am to 12:45pm. Awards and a cosplay fashion show will take place on the Main Stage of the Festival at 1:15pm.

About the Zenkaikon Booth at Sakura Sunday:

Sakura Sunday, sponsored by the Japanese American Society of Greater Philadelphia, celebrates the blooming of the sakura trees in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. For a requested five dollar donation, attendees can enjoy musical performances, martial arts demonstrations, crafts, vendors, food, and more. Attendees may stop by the Zenkaikon booth at Sakura Sunday to learn more about the convention, as well as anime, manga, and other aspects of Japanese culture. At 2:30pm, Zenkaikon will be hosting an anime and manga swap meet, where visitors may bring their old anime and manga to trade with others. Since 2006, Zenkaikon has been bringing quality Japanese animation (anime), comics (manga), and popular culture themed events to the Philadelphia area.
