Voice and screen actor Robert Axelrod to appear at Genericon XXIII

Convention welcomes anime voice actor guest for the first time

TROY, NY (February 3, 2010) - Today, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)'s twenty-third annual science-fiction/anime convention, Genericon, announced a new guest: voice and screen actor Robert Axelrod, who has worked on a variety of anime and science fiction projects.

Genericon XXIII, to be held on the weekend of February 12-14, 2010, will be the first event in the convention's more than twenty-year history to feature an anime voice actor as a guest.

Mr. Axelrod has worked as a stage, screen, and voice actor as well as a rock and folk musician throughout his long career. Genericon attendees will likely know Mr. Axelrod best as the voice of Lord Zedd and Finster on the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and various characters on anime properties, including Akira, The Big O, Captain Harlock, Cowboy Bebop, Digimon, Fist of the North Star, and Robotech, but he has also starred in a wide variety of other media (Michael Jackson's "Stranger in Moscow" music video, for example).

Genericon XXIII will be held from February 12 through 14, 2010 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. To pre-register, visit http://genericon.union.rpi.edu.
